SKIP THE CHAOS AND SUPPORT LOCAL
I love purchasing in person but I find shopping centres chaotic, claustrophobic and don't even get me started on trying to find a carpark! That's why I've written my very first blog post and curated a list of shopping destinations on the Mornington Peninsula that are calm and creative.. places you will receive customised care and attention to detail, all whilst supporting small, local businesses, it's a WIN WIN!!
WATTLE & OAK
SOMERVILLE
A thoughtful little gift and homewares store stocking locally made products, toys, baby goods and curated home pieces. Perfect for gorgeous presents for literally everyone on your list or something special for your own home. They do click-and-collect, gift wrapping and have a lovely selection of Australian small brands.
HERBERT’S CORNER STORE
FRANKSTON
Herbert’s Corner is a character filled, neighbourhood gift shop with a cheery and cheeky mix of cards, candles, kids toys and cute little finds. Two doors down is Two Boys One Beagle & A Coffee Shop, a friendly cafe serving specialty locally roasted Commonfolk coffee and a solid brekky and lunch menu, making for the perfect combo of brunch + shopping without driving between destinations!

THAT CREATIVE SPACE
MORNINGTON
A light filled makers hub where you can support local artists directly and maybe learn a new craft while you’re at it! A space to connect with local creatives, painters, potters, photographers including Juz from The Slow Stitch, Rondelle [pictured], Eleesa Howard, Bec from oh Beverley, Tenniell from Kinfolk Imagery, Roe Bonnici, Bess form Archstone Creative and Marco from Hype Morano this is a great spot to find original work and sign up for a hands on class. They hire the space out for workshops and host regular markets and events and have a retail space supporting even more local creatives too!

THE COMMONFOLK COLLECTIVE
MORNINGTON
The Commonfolk Collective is a much-loved Mornington brand creating beautiful scented home and lifestyle products designed to elevate the everyday. Their Mornington warehouse shopfront is filled with hand poured candles, room sprays, body care, gifts and their signature quote candles, all crafted with a focus on mindful living, thoughtful design and feel good rituals. If you love pieces that bring calm, comfort and a touch of personality into your home, this spot is a must-visit!
MCCLELLAND DESIGN STORE
LANGWARRIN
Part of the McClelland Gallery experience, the Design Store is a clever place to find artist made objects, design led homewares and gifts inspired by the gallery and sculpture park. It’s a lovely detour if you’re visiting the sculpture park, buy a meaningful gift, enjoy a coffee and bite to eat at Harry's Cafe and support a not for profit cultural institution.
RED HILL CANDLE CO
DROMANA
An award winning, family run candle maker, perfumery and Muse Charm Bar based on the Peninsula. Red Hill Candle Co hand pour soy candles and run in store scent lab, candle and jewellery making experiences and workshops. Their store is stocked with a gorgeous selection of local products, perfect if you want to make a unique gift or design your own candle, fragrance, bracelet or necklace.
ARTISAN’S ALLEY
MORNINGTON
A Mornington institution for local makers, Artisan’s Alley brings together jewellery, homewares, art, skincare and handcrafted treasures under one roof. It's the perfect place to find genuinely local work and discover new makers like Fenix Candle Co. [pictured] and so many more!
MAMA SAID CAFE
RED HILL
A cosy, 100% plant based, café offering delicious toasties, brunch options, smoothies, baked treats and light meals alongside a mini grocery of vegan essentials. Whilst not technically a retail store it also offers a lovely selection of cruelty free gifts which is why it made the list! Mama Said is my favourite spot to stop for a nourishing bite while exploring Red Hill and the Peninsula.
See more of these wonderful stores on my instagram post and watch this space for more local love shares to help you support small businesses!
